19th March - Broughton Island
We had a quick sail to Broughton Island which is only 12 miles from Port Stephens. We stopped in this wonderfully calm bay and kayaked to the beach where they got to roam naked on the beach and practice their snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. We shared the anchorage with only one boat (a massive catamaran) and tried a spot of fishing with a little luck.
20 - 22 March – Cape Hawke Harbour (Forster/Tuncurry)
Oh, poor Harry. He well and truly fed the fish today. It was a bit of a rough sail with a NE breeze right on our nose. Biggest bummer was the forward hatch leaking and our bed getting soaked again. We stayed here for a couple of nights, and banged up the rubbing rail on the starboard side whilst berthed at a pile. As soon as the kids had a decent enough run around we were off again and back to our safe anchorage to lick our wounds.

The next time they need to burn some energy off, Jeff took them to the sand bank where they played for several hours chasing the pelicans (Jack didn't learn from his last bird chase) and building a big sandcastle which looked remarkably like a boob ... wonder who helped them with that one??!! Later, they took great joy watching from the boat as the incoming tide washed it away. Boys!

Over and out ...
