23 & 24 April

Stopped at Tin Can Bay for supplies before sailing over to Garry Anchorage. Picturesque spot, and a few other boats around too, but incredibly rolly overnight, which made for a cr@p nights sleep. Instead of staying on as planned we decided to move up to Kingfisher Bay and had an interesting motor there through LOTS of sandbars and saw loads of turtles. Kingfisher Bay is another very picturesque spot with the advantage of having a resort nearby that has a day pavilion available, free of charge, to casual visitors with pool, bar, games etc. Naturally we made the most of it!

I got a bit freaked out when Jeff saw a small shark leap out of the water not 20m away from where Jack was swimming, so naturally I gave him very sharp instructions to get his butt in the boat and we then kayaked rather than swam to shore! The kids had a great time chasing all the Ghost crabs on the beach and they saw their first wild dingo … we were on Fraser island after all! We met up with some cruisers and Jeff invited us to their boat for drinks! We had a wonderful evening with Darrel, Lorretta on ‘CanKata’ and another couple Gerd and Sylvia from another catamaran.

Over and out ...
