12 May
Departed for Hexham Island. 10-15kt SE predominantly with moderate seas but squalls in rain showers up to 30kts. Boat handled it well but we didn’t bother with the main and just poled out the headsail. Glad main was down when the squalls hit, they were pretty full on. The rain well and truly bucketed down, but were were cosy in our wet weather gear and relished the opportunity for the boat to get a good wash down … we even got the scrubbing brush out! Glad to get to Hexham but was interesting trying to anchor in high winds, and turned out to be a very rolly, sleepless night.

Short sail in boisterous 15/20 kt SE tradwind to North East Percy Island and Blunt Bay. Pebbly beach and fringing reef make it unattractive but there is no one else here and it lived up to his reputation as the most comfy anchorage in the Percy Isles.
Over and out…
