Day 13 - first leg completed

Woohoo, Jeff and Joe arrived in Opua today! They had a wonderful sail and all went smoothly except for losing the topping lift. This means they need to find someone smaller than their waif-like selves to go up the mast and retreive it ... can't imagine whey they aren't prepared to lift each other!

I had left our laptop in Opua for Jeff, which he has safely received, but unfortunately it doesn't have the capabilities to run the programmes that Kit had set up with the sat phone. So once they are off again, my job will be to advise them via txt each day of the approaching weather. Not too much of an issue.

On the homefront we have had an interesting day, with Jack having a wee accident resulting in a broken arm. He has learnt a few things: a)if you chase chicks, mother hen will chase you down; b)mother hen can run surprisingly fast(!); c) if you are too busy watching mother hen catching up with you, you won't see the big lump of wood on the ground and you are more likely to fall over. Hence the poorly arm - oh dear! Nonetheless he is fine, the cast isn't bugging him too much yet and he is enjoying all the attention.

Jeff has been in touch with the potential crewmember, but no news yet on that front.

Over and out ...

Tania

Oh poor little Jack, let this be his first lesson about chasing "chicks". Yes they break limbs, then when you get older they break hearts!!!!!!

Good to see you're sorted for crew. Was thinking about ditching work to help save the day. Fair winds old chap.
