Day 14 - The Red Scrubbing Brush

Yahoo - Catana has a 3rd crew member! Nick, from Sweden, is going to be joining the crew for the Opua to Sydney sail (note Lord Howe has been dropped). Having previously worked as a professional boat deliverer all over the world, he probably has more experience than Jeff and Joe put together, and then some. Hopefully a lot can be learnt from him.

Planned departure is Monday morning, so at this point Jeff and Joe are pretty excited and hopefully they won't have a repeat of previous troubles.

On that note, Jeff has requested a funny tale be told about the trip up the East Coast ...

As you know, Catana went through some rough weather early on in the trip and, as is often the case, several items fell to the floor of the cabin. One of those items was a red kitchen scrubbing brush, which Roger picked up and placed back in the galley. The next time the dishes were done, he used the red brush.

It was discovered (with horror) not long after that the red brush retrieved from the floor was not in fact from the galley, but rather from the heads ... that would be the toilet (gasp!)! :-o

Consequently the red brush was returned to the toilet, and every single dish and utensil on the boat was cleaned to within an inch of its life (with a clean brush). Roger was absolutely horrified by the whole experience and swore everyone to silence.

Now, the only reason this tale is now being told, is that Jeff has since discovered what WAS the original toilet brush in the heads, and it would seem the scandalous red brush was in fact the galley brush anyway - so you are off the hook Roger!!!!

Isn't it wonderful of Jeff to relay this story!

NB1: the toilet on the boat is quite small and a kitchen scrubbing brush is perfect to clean it with, hence the confusion;
NB2: the galley and heads brushes are now designated colours so this won't happen again!

So, note to self, change all brushes when I get on board in Sydney - I'm not taking ANY chances.

Over and out ...
Tania
