Day 4 - waiting on wind change

G'day all. The guys are still struggling on, and it would seem from my latest com's with Kit that Jeff is struggling the most as he is too poorly to even make it to the computer to reply to my emails - I think Kit is more concerned Jeff might feed the computer instead of the fish!

1141 hrs - Position Lat 37 degrees 30.4 Long 178 degrees 22.7
(NW of East Cape, just crossing the Bay of Plenty)

We are still bashing into head winds, just for something different. This has slowed us down a lot, we are now 6 hours behind schedule. Our forecast suggested we might have some tail winds by now but alas, we are still waiting. Whilst we bash into these waves the boat is like a hobby horse which makes life very difficult and uncomfortable. It is exceptionally hard to do the simplest things such as going to the toilet or even going below to get a drink. Having said this, we are getting plenty of sleep - we have learned to sleep with the engine running. There's not much else to report. We have seen plenty of dolphins, sea birds and a couple of big schools of pilchards. There are a few commercial ships but so far no other sailors have been spotted. We hope the winds will turn for us soon. It is quite likely that once they turn we won't have any more head winds for the rest of the trip.

Fingers crossed the wind change happens soon, and conditions ease up for the guys.

Over and out ...
Tania
